LAVONNE McDANIEL

Studio Director, Vivace Violin Studio

LaVonne McDaniel is a highly esteemed violin teacher and performer in the Oklahoma City area. LaVonne graduated in 1983 from Glendale High School in Springfield, MO. She attended Evangel College in Springfield with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, and received a Masters in Music and Violin performance at UMKC in 1989. There, she studied with Tiberius Klausner, the former concertmaster of the Kansas City Symphony. Lavonne also played with the Springfield Symphony from 1980 to 1987.

In 1987, LaVonne opened her private violin studio, which is still thriving today. Lavonne actively taught at Northland Cathedral School of Music, UMKC Continuing Education department, and JCCC (Johnson County KS Community College) in the late 1990s. She was also a professor at Mid America Nazerene University from 1990 to 2000. LaVonne was a member in the Northland Cathedral church orchestra from 1988 to 2017. She later founded Kansas’ Sunflower String Quartet in 2008 and played with them until 2019, when she expanded to Oklahoma City. LaVonne is also a member of the federated music teachers of Kansas City.
